The Mac is Not a Typewriter Robin Williams

Khoi Vinh's idea for a software typewriter is intruiguing, but I can't see myself wanting to use such an app for writing. When computers first hit the hands of ordinary folks, it was clear that typesetting abuses were here to stay. Robin William's classic book The Mac is Not a Typewriter is an excellent primer for effective document layout (Williams, 1990). I would suggest reviewing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostrophe#Computing and moving on to Robin Williams' “The Mac is Not a Typewriter” for background. I took several design classes in scool and I would suggest reading ANYTHING by Robin Williams. There is so much appalling typesetting on the Internet. Thanks for looking out for us little people. You do not care for dissenting opinions, especially from someone that knows what they are doing. This reminds me of an old book that I used to have called The Mac is Not a Typewriter. There was a wonderful book called "The Mac is Not a Typewriter", (this is a review: http://www.techsoc.com/macisnot.htm ), that first came out in 1991. Robin Williams, an expert in the field of document design and the author of The Mac is not a Typewriter and the Non-Designer's series, spends a great amount of time trying to get this message out to writers and editors. The book was “The Mac Is Not A Typewriter” and the author was Robin Something. "put a double space at the end of a sentence" is a typing "rule", not a grammar rule. YA-- Using 19 short lessons, this concise, simple style manual directs a Macintosh user on how to produce professional quality manuscripts. You're so much smarter than me!
