It has the larger trim size used by Yen Press's other manwha and OEL manga, but is also noticeably thicker, clocking in at over 260 pages. I have so far read volumes 1-4 of the Maximum Ride manga series (only up to volume 6 has been released, and 7 will be released in October). Do I recommend this manga volume? Maximum Ride - Manga Volume 1 & 2. The packaging for Maximum Ride is, in a generic, ill-defined word, awesome. April 6, 2010 | sylphalchemist. GENRE/CATEGORY: Manga, Graphic Novel, Science Fiction. The next chapter will be maximum ride vol. I admit, I started reading this for the wings. Guess this is Patterson's first go at young adult fiction. In addition, Takeuchi has two more books in the top 20: Sailor Moon volume 2 at #10 and volume 1 at #16. Manga Opinion: Maximum Ride Volume #2. My son read the book, I decided to read the manga! I finally got Fang - the newest book in the Maximum Ride series ~ 8D Too bad I'm too engrossed with Brave Story to care right now haha xD. This is slightly AU as Ed stayed in Amestris after defeating the homunculi. Black Butler volume 8 (#7) and the manga-influenced Maximum Ride volume 5 (#9) round out the top 10. However, as a stand-alone read, this first volume makes out well. Not having read the original Maximum Ride novels, I can't make much of a comment as to its faithfulness to the original material, or how outraged fans of the series will have a right to be.
